Welcome to GermantownNow.com

This Web site combines the efforts of the Journal Sentinel and Community Newspapers newsrooms to bring you the latest news and information about Germantown. But mostly, we want this Web site to be about you - the people who live in Germantown.

Right now, this is a "Beta" Web site, which means we're still developing it, seeing what works and what doesn't, getting out into the community to find out what you'd like it to be.

In time, we plan to introduce an area of the Web site for you to post your own stories, calendar events, celebrations, photos, opinions, and more about Germantown. We want it to become a gathering place online for you and your neighbors.

Even in "Beta," though, we hope we've got plenty to offer you. Here's what:

NEWS

"CommunityWatch" is an extension of JSOnline's NewsWatch. In it, we'll bring you a quick take on the latest news and information just about Germantown - from what's happening in government and the schools, to new businesses and developments coming to town, to the daily buzz of such things as traffic, crime, and big news about your neighbors.

We want "CommunityWatch" to be really current, so if you know of some news in Germantown please let us know.

In addition, we'll provide an archive of news stories about Germantown that have appeared in the Germantown Banner-Press and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. And we'll post weekly police blotters and home sale prices.

THE BASICS

Check out the Community Guide for the staples of information about Germantown. You'll find names and phone numbers of elected officials, lots of school information, population and demographic trends, links to area organizations and businesses, restaurant reviews, and much more.

Frankly, there's so much about a community that residents may want to know that we surely don't have it all. So, again, let us know if you have any ideas.

YOUR PHOTOS

This is only the beginning, as we mentioned, of what we hope is a gathering place for the community. Right now, go ahead and post your photos - the ones that show us and everyone else who you are and what you care about. As long as they don't cross the line - and you'll probably know if they do - we'll post them.

CALENDARS

Garden tours, pancake breakfasts, art exhibits, charity walks and runs, candidate forums - this is the place to find out what events are happening in Germantown. Soon, we'll open it up to allow you to post your group's calendar events.

BUSINESS LISTINGS AND CLASSIFIEDS

This is another area that we want to develop over time to bring you business listings and classified advertising with a distinctly local flavor.

We know that to make this Web site a place people want to visit regularly, we'll need your help. So, Germantown, we want to hear from you. Call NOW editor Mark Maley at (262) 446-6630 or use our "Got a Tip" form to let us know what's happening and what you think.
