Pettit Youth Hockey Squirts Take First Place at West Bend Tourney
The Pettit Patriots won the 2010 Washington County Youth Hockey Association Squirt B Ice Invitational Tournament held February 19-21 at the Kettle Morraine Ice Arena in West Bend, Wisconsin. The Pettit Patriots won the tournament by beating Washington County Ice (2-1), Southwest Eagles (5-4), and the Beaver Dam Golden Beavers (3-1), in a round-robin style competition. This is the Pettit Patriot Squirts (9-10 year olds) second trophy this year. In January, the Patriots also won the Consolation Championship at a Squirt B tournament held in Sparta, Wisconsin. Overall, the Pettit Squirts have won 16, lost 17, and tied 2 this year. The Pettit Squirts are coached by Chris Faust and Jeff Dufek. The Pettit Youth Hockey Program is the home hockey program of the Pettit National Ice Center in West Allis Wisconsin, an Olympic Training Facility that is also home ice for several Olympic speed skaters and for the Milwaukee Jr Admirals, a tier 1 (AAA) youth hockey program. Pettit youth hockey is a recreational program with players from throughout the Milwaukee area, including Franklin, Germantown, Milwaukee, Muskego, Pewaukee, Shorewood, Waterford, Wauwatosa, West Allis, and Whitefish Bay. Many of the players are former participants of ice hockey lessons taught at the Pettit or of Pettit ice hockey summer camps. During hockey season, which runs from September to early March, Pettit youth hockey teams enjoy free public skating on the Olympic oval, in addition to their scheduled practices.
