'Almost Anything Goes Show' premieres Nov. 6 and 7 at Germantown High School
The annual “Almost Anything Goes Show” will take place Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. in the Germantown High School Auxiliary Gym.
This year’s high-energy show will feature several bands from Germantown High School’s music program, including its competitive marching band, the Wall of Sound; and the combined Concert Winds/Symphonic Bands. Attendees of the Color Guard Workshop will also perform. Friday’s show will include a performance by the Kennedy Middle School eighth-grade band. Saturday’s event will feature the “Battle of the Bands,” during which each grade level of students, freshmen to seniors, will compete for the coveted top spot and a year’s worth of bragging rights.
The theme for this year’s show is “A Night at the Movies” and features several popular selections from the silver screen. The show will include music from movie soundtracks, including “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Beetlejuice,” “Spiderman,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Star Trek” and “James Bond.”
The finale, featuring more than 200 band members, will include a fun collection of Germantown favorites, including “Louie Louie,” “On Wisconsin,” “Crazy Train” and “You’ve Said It All.”
“The Almost Anything Goes Show has been a tradition at Germantown High School since 1997,” said James Barnes, band director. “It has proven to be an enjoyable concert for young and old alike.”
Tickets can be pre-ordered from Germantown High School’s band department or online at www.gtownbands.com, with the remainder of the tickets available at the door each night of the performance. General seating is $3, and a limited amount of “front-and-center” table seating is available for $60 per eight-seat table. Concessions will be available and raffle baskets will be auctioned, with proceeds supporting the Warhawk Band Boosters.
