Groundbreaking Ceremony for Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Hubertus

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Hubertus, WI has signed a contract with KELLER, Planners, Architects, Builders, a Design/Build General Contractor, to construct an 18,000 sq. ft. church, fellowship hall and Sunday school area.

 

The church is building to expand its ministry in the Richfield area. There will be significantly upgraded space for children and youth ministries, multi-purpose fellowship space seating up to 200, and a 300 seat sanctuary with up-to-date capabilities for music and video, to accommodate the growing congregation.

 

To be located at 1350 Highway 175 in Hubertus, construction will begin in late August and is expected to be completed in April, 2010. An official groundbreaking ceremony was held on Sunday, August 23, 2009.

1967 Shepherd of the Hills begins meeting at the Richfield Fire Hall

Easter 1968 Original church building built (fellowship hall)

1985 Expansion/remodeling to include new sanctuary, offices, additional restrooms and remodeled classrooms and kitchen - dedicated in November of the same year

February 2003 Comprehensive remodeling to create multi-purpose space within existing walls

Spring 2008 Capital Campaign began

08/09/09 Congregational Meeting – Votes 200yes/4 no votes to build a new church facility

08/23/09 Groundbreaking

Spring 2010 Anticipated occupancy

New building will be approximately 18,000 sq. ft. and will include a new steeple

Approximate cost: In excess of $2 million

Built a few feet south of current building

Congregation has grown by 60% in the past 7 years

Average worship attendance 310 – Baptized membership around 750
