Johnson's Nursery is Growing and Branching Out With Opening of Johnson's Gardens in Cedarburg

March 25, 2009

MENOMONEE FALLS, WI (March 24, 2009)—Already commemorating its 50th Anniversary this year, Johnson’s Nursery has set another milestone and is celebrating a new branch in Cedarburg. This spring, the former Prairie Stone Garden Center located at 8504 Highway 60 will blossom into Johnson’s Gardens.

Johnson’s Nursery is headquartered at W80 N6275 Marcy Road in Menomonee Falls where it has a retail nursery center and holding yard. Its propagation department and contractor sales division also operate out of this 50 acre location. Johnson’s grows the majority of its plants in Jackson, Wisconsin on approximately 500 acres of farmland. When plants are ready to be harvested, they are dug from the ground and transported to the Menomonee Falls nursery where they can be stored and maintained in the holding yard until planted in a landscape—or now, taken to Johnson’s Gardens for sale as well.

The most noticeable difference at the new Johnson’s Gardens will be the locally grown, high quality nursery stock. Selection will be bigger based not only on the number of offerings but also the size of some of the plants. Installation will be added to the store’s line of professional services to make it easy for customers to get some of those larger plants installed in their landscape.

Landscape design services will be offered at Johnson’s Gardens with one of Johnson Nursery’s talented designers joining the Cedarburg staff. For homeowners who enjoy doing their own landscape work, the “We Plan – You Plant” program will be an opportunity to receive landscape designs at no charge when the plants are purchased from Johnson’s Gardens.

Native plant lovers will find an outstanding selection of native Wisconsin plants at Johnson’s Gardens. The Johnson family has been producing natives for many years as part of its continuing promotion of sustainable landscapes.

The professionals at Johnson’s Gardens will continue to offer the same superior level of customer service and expert advice that has been their trademark. The store’s stylish selection of home decorating and giftware merchandise, decorative planters, statuary and fountains will continue to be offered. And, the holidays will still be bright and festive with Christmas trees, wreaths, seasonal supplies and gifts being sold.
