'Corporate Wellness' is Topic of Friday Forum at MATC's Mequon Campus Dec. 7.

Dec. 5, 2012

“Corporate Wellness” is the topic of a Friday Forum discussion set for 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in the Lecture Hall at Milwaukee Area Technical College’s Mequon Campus, 5555 W. Highland Road.

Anne Sheridan, MATC employee wellness coordinator, will address how businesses can develop a wellness program that will benefit their employees. Lucia Francis, vice president of MATC’s Mequon Campus, will moderate a discussion following the presentation. Sheridan will discuss management support, teamwork, data collection, planning, interventions, environmental support and evaluation. She also will detail how a wellness initiative led to surprise results and outcomes.

Businesses of all sizes have recognized that a healthy workforce contributes to a healthy bottom line. Over the next decade, factors like an aging population and ramifications of the new health care law are expected to result in more employers developing their own wellness programs.

A $5 per-person charge covers continental breakfast. For more information or reservations, please contact Sandra Webster by Thursday, Dec. 6, at (262) 238-2205 or websters@matc.edu.

Friday forums are co-sponsored by the Mequon Campus of Milwaukee Area Technical College, the Ozaukee County Board, the University of Wisconsin and INVEST. The series advances regional progress by bringing key people together to solve problems, share information and build relationships.

Wisconsin’s largest technical college and the most diverse two-year institution in the Midwest, Milwaukee Area Technical College is a key driver of southeastern Wisconsin’s economy and has provided innovative education in the region since 1912. Approximately 50,000 students per year attend the college’s four campuses and community-based sites or learn online. MATC offers affordable and accessible education and training opportunities that empower and transform lives in the community. The college offers 200 academic programs; nearly 400 transfer options leading to bachelor’s degrees; and a Pre-College Education division that assists people to complete high school, prepare for college or enter the workforce. Overwhelmingly, MATC graduates build careers and businesses in southeastern Wisconsin. The college is accredited through the Higher Learning Commission, the national standard for academics and student services.
