The top-seeded University School boys hockey team did that in a 6-1 victory over eighth-seeded Germantown in a regional final Friday night at the Uihlein Ice Arena.
Germantown 71, Milwaukee Lutheran 48
The Warhawks turned a 15-13 deficit into a huge lead with an 18-2 run that didn't end until midway through the second quarter and put Germantown in control at 31-17. The Warhawks won easily over Milwaukee Lutheran, 71-48.
Nicolet 68, Germantown 52
Big games are par for the course in Nicolet's girls' basketball program. At Germantown, prime-time affairs are still a whole new animal. The difference in experience, execution and overall performance were all evident Friday night - especially early. The visiting Knights raced to a 25-10 lead after the first quarter, held a comfortable advantage most of the game and toppled the Warhawks.
Cedarburg 50, Germantown 37
Host Germantown, a team accustomed to sitting near the top of the league standings, cooled the hot Warhawks, 50-37, using stingy defense, solid ball control and excellent rebounding.
