Senior Abby Croft took 22nd on the uneven bars with a score of 8.15 at the WIAA State meet in Wisconsin Rapids on Friday to close out the season for the Indians on a positive note.
"The warm-ups were a bit chaotic," said Indians coach Tracy Howard. "You only get about two minutes. She didn't hit one of her top skills in the warm-up but she came back to do it in the meet. It wasn't as clean as it was in the sectional but it was still good.
"And what was nice, was that the entire team came up to support her."
Croft's effort closed out an up-and-down season for the Indians, who struggled with injuries for the first half of the campaign. Croft was one of four seniors on the varsity including four-year performer Allie Holtz, London Williams and Shelby Smykal. There were eight seniors overall.
A total of 29 athletes finished the season.
"This was a very pleasurable year," Howard said. "It was a good, coachable group. It was really nice because we had a nice mix of seniors and young ones contributing."

It was not pretty, but the Warhawks used a gritty defensive stand and a big fourth-quarter push to close out the regular season on a positive note with a 48-39 win over Homestead on Friday.
With the win, the Warhawks finished up the regular season in second place in the North Shore at 10-4 and with a school record overall mark of 17-5.
"This was nice for these girls, step one for them," said Warhawks coach Matt Stuve.
Step two was a rematch with the Highlanders on Tuesday (see separate story) in a WIAA regional semifinal. If they win, they would likely visit Waukesha South in a regional final on Saturday (TBA).
"This group has never won a tournament game before, so getting out of the gate well would be great," Stuve said. "If we do that, then we'll see where that takes us."
The Warhawks struggled with their shooting against Homestead on Friday and were tied with the Highlanders at 31 going into the fourth quarter. A 17-8 burst in the final quarter did the trick despite the fact Germantown was just three of 19 from 3-point range and only 11 of 22 from the foul line.
"We just struggled," Stuve said.
Eliza Wortman had 12 points and Kate Benson 10 for Germantown.

The Indians held tough against Greater Metro champ Divine Savior Holy Angels for a half (21-13), but then the Dashers pulled away with an 18-6 third quarter outburst that sealed the deal on a 51-24 decision that closed out the regular season.
The loss closed the regular season for Falls at 3-11 in league play and 5-16 overall. They play Waukesha South in a WIAA regional semifinal on Tuesday (see separate story).
DSHA (13-1, 15-7) finished as co-champs in the GMC with Brookfield Central (13-1, 16-6).
Jillian Carlson finished with five points for Falls.
