Falls soccer hosts alumni game

The Menomonee Falls High School boys soccer program will hold its annual alumni game at the soccer stadium on the high school campus,W142 N8101 Merrimac Drive, at 7 p.m. Aug. 14.

Wanaki Golf Course hosts family day, scramble events

Wanaki Golf Course, W20830 Lisbon Road, Menomonee Falls, will host a series of family days every Saturday in August. Every Saturday in August after 3 p.m. juniors age 17 and younger will golf free with a paying adult, with a limit of one junior per paying adult.

In addition, the course will host its annual three-person scramble on Aug. 14. Entries are available in the men's open or women's divisions with shotgun starts at 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Entry fees for the scramble are $50 for walking or $60 with a cart. Seniors and juniors can register for only $40 walking or $50 with a cart.

The entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, golf balls, lunch or dinner buffet, prizes, hole events and a beverage ticket. For information, contact the pro shop at (262) 252-3480.

Thielke to take part in Junior World Championships

Two-time WIAA state wrestling champion Jesse Thielke of Germantown is part of a team taking part in the Junior World Championships in Ankara, Turkey, Aug. 4 to 9.

Thielke will take part in the 55-kilogram (121 pound) division in the Greco-Roman competition.

Thielke, who will start his junior year at Germantown this fall, has won multiple national titles in folkstyle, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. He is viewed in some circles as being the most talented Wisconsin wrestling prospect since national champion and Olympian Ben Askren came out of Arrowhead.

One other Wisconsin wrestler, Ben Provisor of Stevens Point at 163 pounds, will take part for the American team in the Greco-Roman division. The squad is coached by Eric Wetzel and Ike Anderson.
