Grace Lutheran girls basketball team advances

The Grace Lutheran School eighth grade girls basketball team of Menomonee Falls recently earned its second consecutive trip to the National Lutheran Tournament at Valparaiso (Indiana) when it finished second in the state event held last month.

The team, coached by Dan Otzelberger and Keith Gullickson includes Lauren Arndt, Madeline Collazo, Elyse Otzelberger, Katie Gullickson, Taylor Higginbotham, Kendyl Braun, Nicole Wein, Gabrielle Norton, and Kestra Jost.

UWM's Dekoning earns baseball honors

Former NOW All-Suburban baseball Player of the Year Doug Dekoning of Menomonee Falls is having a strong senior season as an outfielder for UW-Milwaukee.

In February, he was Horizon League player of the week and recently was named the UWM/ROTC player of the month for March.

He is still in the top 50 in terms of batting average nationally for NCAA Division 1 at .398 (51-128) for the 16-20 Panthers.

St. Boniface track teams perform well at area meet

The St. Boniface Catholic Grade School in Germantown youth track teams performed well in the recently held St. Mathias meet held at UW-Milwaukee.

Erika Bethhauser won the 200 meter dash and was fifth in the 50 dash while Lisa Labelle was second in the 800 and seventh in the 400 and Katherine Macpherson was fourth in the 400.

Erin Willard was seventh in the 50 and joined with Rachel Stuesser, Shyanne Lyden and Emma Wax to take fourth in the 800 relay.

On the boys side, Tim Schabel was third in the 800 and the 400 while Nathan Steusser was fourth in the 800. Kendall Holmes and Chris Elfenson were voted most improved.
