School Board approves funding part-time resource officer
A school resource officer will be stationed at Kennedy Middle School next school year, but not on a full-time basis.
The Germantown School Board last night approved an amendment to its intergovernmental agreement with the village to create the position at the school.
However, the position, which the board had intended to be full time, will be "on a casual basis," Superintendent Kenneth Rogers stated in his report to the board.
Instead of spending the $75,000 budgeted, the district will pay $25,000 to $30,000 in the 2009-10 school year for the position.
Rogers stated the village is unable to fund its portion of the position. Also, the board put two other positions on hold because of unknowns with the state budget and the state's approval of the district's application of Qualified School Construction Bonds for projects.
The board had intended to transfer $250,000 from the capital improvements budget for the three positions.
