Thanks to all who made book sale a success
Public Forum:
The Friends of the Germantown Community Library would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who donated books to the library over the past year for the 11th annual Friends Book Sale in late March. We hope you'll continue to donate books to the library over the upcoming months for next year's book sale.
About $7,300 was raised at the sale this year.
Funds raised from the sale will go to summer reading programs and special projects at the library, which are not covered by taxpayer dollars. For example, a few months ago, the Friends purchased six computers for the library.
In 2009, as in previous years, the leftovers from the sale were donated to other community organizations. This year, leftovers were donated to the Salvation Army, Goodwill, St. Boniface Youth Mission to Kentucky, the Germantown Senior Citizen Center and the Friends of the Hartford Library.
The friends would like to thank the Youth Futures of Germantown and the Germantown High School National Honor Society for their help moving boxes of books for the book sale. Special thanks go to the village of Germantown, the library staff and the Department of Public Works for their continued support of the book sale.
The Friends would also like to recognize and thank the 30 community volunteers who helped move boxes of books, set up the book sale, work at the book sale and who helped clean up after the sale was over. We couldn't have done this without you.
