Health Care Reform Antics Are Sickening

Economy, Healthcare, Political, Quality of Life, U.S.

The charade that is passing for the final push on health care reform is sickening.

Since we are not supposed to ever suggest that our President might be lying, I’ll simply say that he has seemingly mastered the art of spinning falsehoods.  A new “victim” is trotted out on a daily basis, although yesterday’s victim couldn’t be present since she was already in the Cleveland Clinic receiving treatment even though she didn’t have health insurance.  Sob stories are the order of the day with this bill.

The House is now serious about voting on the Senate bill without voting on it, but simply “deeming” that they have voted on it.  That seems to fly in the face of our Constitution but we shouldn’t be too alarmed about that.  They are simply doing what a majority want them to do.   That “majority” is mythical but falsehoods are very popular with this Administration.

It was bad enough that “savings” were being counted as savings and then re-spent thus making them non-savings.  It was bad enough that all this hokum was put together behind closed doors using the nasty lobbyists that were going to be absolutely excluded from this Administration’s offices.  It is bad enough that the Administration is paying off various hold-outs with our tax dollars so we can pay even more in taxes.

In what has been billed as “the final Obama appearance” touting his health care bill, our President extolled his party members saying “We need courage!”, as he pumped up the hand-picked crowd in Ohio with Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) sitting with him.  Kucinich, by the way, had been “treated” to a flight on Air Force One so the President could help him see the light.  We may never know if Kucinich turned on a dime to suddenly become a supporter of this health care bill since the Dems in the House are looking to vote without voting…on the record, at least.

Now the Democrats are using the sad story about them having “wasted a whole year of Congress’ time” if this isn’t passed.

Wasted Congressional time is a very small price to pay if this health care bill can be put to sleep so that smart health care reform can be undertaken.   Maybe our Congress spends too much time in Washington as it is. Maybe we should shorten the Congressional sessions and limit the time that Congress has to find more excuses to take our money from our pockets.  Maybe less time in Washington by elected officials would equate to fewer freedoms being taken from us.

The health care reform bills currently in Congress are sickening enough.  The disgusting display of brute force politics is adding insult to injury.  There is no room for political posturing when our personal freedoms are being taken from us.
