Open Records Request Filed

The District Attorney has concluded his review of the investigation report made by the Mequon Police Department concerning the potential violation of a closed meeting by someone who had access to that information.  The Village Attorney has concluded his review and the document is now available.

An Open Records request was filed by me this morning to obtain a copy so that it can be reviewed and discussed in a coming “Village Buzz” edition.

Warhawks Go On Scoring Binge

The Germantown boys’ team shot the lights out last night with a whipping administered to Milwaukee Madison.  The final score was 122 – 51 with fifteen players from Germantown scoring in the game.  Zak Schowalter and Josh Mongan were high point leaders with 23 points apiece.

Let’s hope this hasn’t depleted the team's scoring capacity.

G’town Streets and Roads In Bad Shape

The streets and roads in Germantown are in the toughest shape they’ve been in for a long, long time.  It is literally difficult to keep the steering wheel steady on some of the roadways.  I suspect that one good thing coming from this is general vehicle speed.  Vehicle control is at risk in addition to alignment and wheel balancing.

Water Inequity

A commenter to yesterday’s Blog item raised the question about a section of condominiums in Germantown that will not be affected by the rate increases being considered at this time.  His comment is shown below:

“We're likely to have some winners and losers right here in the Germantown water utility, thanks to a proposed rate increase presently before the Village Board. The losers are the approximately 4700 single family and condominium customers served by separate five eights inch water meters, as mandated by Municipal code 15.071. Under the proposal, they will receive a 5% service charge increase. The winners are the individual condominium customers of a large 286 unit development not in compliance with M.C. 15.071, who as a result already enjoy service charges at an average rate 84% less than the other 4700 customers. Under the proposal they will receive no service charge increase. Hopefully the Board will ultimately act in the best interests of the majority, not just 286.”

It appears the he is very much correct.  A confidential source in the position to know provided this general overview:

The condominium unit is called Lake Part West. It has 285 units and is served by three water meters.  All Lake Park sewer and water lines used to be private.  The Village took them over in the 1992-93 time span, and part of the agreement for taking over the Lake Park sewer and water lines was that each condominium unit needed to be placed on an individual meter.  Lake Park West was never placed on individual meters and is still being served on three meters.  With the 5% increase on individual household meters being considered, this area of Lake Park would not get the increase per unit.

I trust that the Village Board will discuss remedial action of some sort to spread the pain across all household users.
