Winners & Losers

The Germantown Warhawk boy’s basketball team is a big winner with a win over Homestead and a share of the NSC title.  This is virtually a Cinderella story in that there was no indication at the start of the season that this team would be able to get to this point.

Coach Schowalter deserves a lot of credit for continuing to help this team with its basketball tactics, but even more for showing the guys what can be done to overcome adversity as they move forward in their lives.  The experience these young men had will prove priceless for some of them; it will likely be the one thing that finally turned more than one of them into lifelong winners.

The Germantown Warhawk girl’s basketball team is a big winner having accomplished their best season in history.  This can prove to have been the season in which this team proved that Germantown can have a solid girl’s basketball program.

Congratulations to the coaches and players.

Paul Ryan is a winner having had his latest six minutes of fame during the Health Care Summit when he succinctly explained the major problems with the Democrat health care reform package.  It was apparent when President Obama opined that he had some issues with Ryan’s remarks but, in the interest of time, he’d forego further discussion.

President Obama knew that this relatively young man was no one with whom he wanted to engage in a discussion having to do with budgets and costs.

Wisconsinites are losers given the continued push to release convicts in the Governor’s early release program which is putting the losers back on the street.  There have been at least two instances of those who have been released being picked up already for having been involved in apparent criminal conduct.

Milwaukee County taxpayers are winners since they benefit from the County Board finally approving a Scott Walker program to have ten days of furloughs in order to balance the County budget.  It took a court case to finally convince the Board that this was a legal approach to balancing a budget.

Americans are losers if the United States Senate decides to apply “reconciliation” to the health care reform package assuming that the House of Representatives will be able to find a simple majority to pass the Senate bill as it now stands.

Just because something can be done doesn’t make that something right.  It is past time for our politicians who fail to be responsive to the will of their constituents to be permitted to run roughshod over those people.
