The Shame Of It...
Shame, shame, shame!
The all-powerful Democrats are now staging the latest 'behind closed doors' set of shenanigans having to do with our health care system. The final act of bringing the two health care bills, those of the House and of the Senate, together should be conducted in full sight with a formal conference committee meeting in the open.
But, that appears to be something we'll only dream about. The word is now working its way through the halls of Congress and through the White House that this formal approach is simply too fraught with votes. Sen. Reid (D-NV) is close to deciding, if he hasn't already decided, that the process of sausage-making called legislating will be conducted in an 'informal' setting with a handful of attendees from the House, the Senate and the White House. Of course, Rep. Pelosi (D-CA) is only too happy to go along with this charade posing as good government. And, the President seems poised to look the other way while his enforcer, Rahm Emanuel and a handful of White House staffers participate in this travesty.
If this legislation is as good for us all as our Democrat politicians and Democrat leaders would have us believe, why is it then necessary to go through the last stages behind closed doors once again? If this simple travesty doesn't cause even the most ardent supporters to blanch, then nothing will ever again.
This is the mark of an Administration gone over the edge with self-adoration. This is the mark of desperation. This is the mark of democracy abandoned.
The Republicans and right-thinking Democrats simply must step up and demand that this travesty be stopped dead in its tracks. The time has come when the niceties of the Senate must be thrown out the window; it is obvious that Sen. Reid has simply become a tyrant who sees this as his last opportunity to go down in history before he is defeated in the coming election in Nevada. Rep. Pelosi has the safety of one of the most liberal congressional districts in the country, so she'll be in Congress until she can no longer handle it physically.
It seems that our President has lost sight of what our country is about. He seems to be telling us all of his innermost convictions through his casual approval of this travesty. It is past time for him to step in and stop this playground approach to governance. His lack of concern about the process is telling.
Are we are finally seeing the real man who occupies the Oval Office? If he does not do the right thing and insist that this process be done in the proper manner, then he will have tacitly told us volumes about himself.
We seem to be turning a corner, or maybe have already turned that corner, in the life of our country that is leading us down a very dangerous path to a destination from which we may never return.
