Overwhelmed?
I was AWOL (absent without leave) over the week-end given family demands. I tuned back into the world this morning and was reminded of the bromide about trying to drink from a firehose. The array of news items was very nearly overwhelming, and I tend to be a bit of a "news junkie", as my family will certainly attest.
That made me think about "normal" Americans who might try, occasionally, to tune in for an update only to be overwhelmed at the pure array of initiatives that have been launched by the Obama Administration. The only thing that seems certain today is that there must be another major initiative just around the corner.
Then, I wondered if this is actually being done by plan so that many pieces of the Administration's initiatives might be made to slip through the process as people were looking the other way? Unfortunately, that is potentially the case and it is a shame that something like that could be said about this Administration.
When we look at the number of "czars" that have been and are being appointed without any oversight, we have a right to be concerned. There are some significant character flaws among that group. Extreme positions are one thing, and, unfortunately, to be expected in this Administration. But a person appointed to direct involvement in our nation's school system who admitted to condoning a juvenile/adult same-sex relationship years earlier is simply too far over the edge.
How could such a thing slip through the net when it was so readily available to the alternative press? Was there no vetting involved on the part of the Obama Administration? No way! Given that, the only other explanation is that this Administration doesn't see that issue as particularly important nor is it one that these people seem to feel the need to avoid even with press scrutiny. Oh, maybe that is due to the lack of press scrutiny.
But, even that lapse may be coming to an end. A very liberal pundit wrote over the week-end about Obama's lack of substance and his ubiquitous presence actually beginning to have an effect upon the American people. It seems more of us are beginning to question the judgment many of us exercised in the voting booth last fall.
