More Than Meets The Eye...
The unfolding saga of Jim Blackburn's move from the high school principal's position to a newly created position appears to have some legs. He has, obviously, filed an age discrimination action against the system, and has made some public statements in support of his position that this was unwarranted and against his wishes.
He has apparently also been attempting to rouse parental support through meetings he has held in the district.
The problem is that we're able only to hear one side of this story since the district is essentially gagged because this is classified as a personnel issue. Blackburn could end the speculation if he simply provided some support for the claims he is making, but, with an attorney representing him, that is highly unlikely. If, for example, he would authorize release of any and all pertinent data by the district, I suspect that would end the suspense.
It seems to me, with admittedly limited information just like you, that the age discrimination action has little validity since he wasn't fired but, instead, was moved to a new position. I believe that position pays him at least what he was earning prior to the move. There is the possibility that he is simply angling for a cash settlement since defendants are more and more likely to settle such actions than to defend them due to the high costs involved and due to the fact that outcomes can sometimes seem contrary to evidence.
Obama School Speech Follow-up...
There is a history of Barack Obama being involved with Bill Ayers in something called the Annenburg Challenge in Chicago. This effort was radical in nature and designed to give the radicals a platform within the school system from which to espouse their theories and gain young minds.
To those who say that I wouldn't be concerned if this were George W. Bush or Ronald Reagan making such a speech, I would say, "you're correct, so far as that goes". The essence is that neither would've had a similar time in his history when evidence seemed to indicate a cause for such concern; and, neither came anywhere close to such an action.
Finally, this is all too convenient when one simply recognizes that the teachers' unions were and are staunch Obama supporters. This "speech" provides the "cover" for the potential exploitation of young minds through the pre-speech and post-speech activities. The speech proper will likely be about striving for educational excellence and that is all well and good. It is the climate created that is most troublesome.
I have watched as those youngsters I know have been indoctrinated on various subjects de jour including the green movement and the energy movement. Such "training" at this age can be precisely opposite what these kids would be exposed to in their own homes, and yet too many parents either don't recognize this or simply don't care about taking the time to dispel notions that aren't yet proved and that may be contrary to the beliefs of the parent or parents.
It is Orwellian and it is not by accident that President Obama has enabled this process so far as I am concerned.
Booster Club Corn Roast...
Get to the Hawks' football game early tomorrow evening and enjoy the fruits of the Booster Club's grills. I'm told that you'll find sweet corn, brats, burgers and other goodies. Get there early and have some food while helping raise money for the Booster Club.
