St. Mary Parish School opened its doors in 1916 and has been providing a great education for its students ever since. The parents of St. Mary's will be contributing to this blog which will update the community on Great Kids; Great Families. Visit our web site at www.faithwebsites.com/stmaryschool.
Technology and our 5th graders:
From sea-to-shining-sea, studying the states has never been so spectacular! Using their new SMART Boards, Mr. Kelm’s Fifth Grade students took up the challenge of matching state names and locations on the super-sized U.S. map. With a touch of their fingers, the students dragged and dropped state names into place on the SMART Board display. Classmates cheered as students attempted to ‘beat the clock’ and name every state in the lower forty-eight.
Technology and our 2nd graders:
Making predictions, studying patterns, and counting money...all standard subject matter in a 2nd Grade classroom. In Mrs. Harbury’s class, all of these topics jumped off the board as students jumped at the chance to use the SMART Board in Room 116. Students learned about chance and random choices using a “virtual spinner”. After each spin, a histogram of results was created real-time, allowing the class to evaluate their predictions based on the data displayed.
