Polling Places Open...

Remember to cast your votes today for those whom you think will do the job for us.  There are important spots to be filled both within the village and within the state.

Campaign Sign Placement...

I've noted recently that there seems no rhyme or reason to the placement of campaign signs this election cycle.  Other than for the at-large school board seats, and county-wide or state-wide races, it makes me wonder when I see district-specific signage outside the districts in question.

I'm sure there is no regulation precluding that; if there were, someone would've filed a complaint.

Should there be an ordinance enacted to preclude the confusion of signage being posted on a village-wide basis when the candidate(s) are only specific to a particular district?  Should those candidates for a District 1 seat, for example, be restricted to placing signs only inside District 1?

Barrett & SEWRPC Theft...

I have learned that both the village and the county were represented in the fight to retain funding in the money-grab that Mayor Tom Barrett engineered through SEWRPC.

President Tom Kempinski has been outspoken in his efforts to retain the road funding on behalf of the village.  County Supervisor Pete Sorce has also been quite vocal, as those who know him can appreciate :-)), about the perception of Germantown having been wronged by the SEWRPC action.  I presume that both Senator Darling and Representative Knodl have made their feelings known, as well.

Rumor has it that this travesty may well be reversed by state officials.  We'll continue to follow this issue.

In the meantime, is there any real way we can remove ourselves from "Southeast" Wisconsin?  We're almost always on the short end of whatever stick is in play.  Every action takes money from us and returns little or nothing to us.
