Curmudgeon's Corner
cur-mud-geon: anyone who hates hypocrisy and pretense and has the temerity to say so; anyone with the habit of pointing out unpleasant facts in an engaging and humorous manner
Is This The Way It Will Be?
A high school wrestler in Madison walks to the ring and takes his position on his hands and knees to begin his match. Suddenly an overhead lighting fixture drops from its moorings thirty feet above and hits him squarely in the back. He didn’t collapse under the impact but, instead, waited as the people around him lifted the fixture from his back.
He was taken to the hospital to be sure there was no serious damage. There was no serious damage, thank goodness.
That is the good news.
The bad news is that, in liberal Madison, this was entirely his fault. He was advised that he had forfeited the match due to injury and his opponent had won.
This is wrong on so many levels it is almost impossible to find the place from which to commence. But commence we will. There is seemingly no common sense in the world of liberals. You and I would see this and simply decide there had been no contest due to neither of the wrestlers’ fault and the match would’ve been rescheduled. Not in Mad City, the place where common sense has virtually been outlawed. No, in Mad City this was a classic case of “the law is the law” and there is no possibility of common sense being invoked.
This is a precursor to the kinds of things we can expect as liberalism goes into full bloom. There is a different world view, one that many of us cannot even begin to make sense of, and yet this is too often where staunch liberals reside.
Wherever we would apply common sense, there seems no possibility of common sense being considered.
This is the world where lawsuits are bred willy nilly, and I have to say that I hope this high school wrestler hits the system up for big bucks and that he wins. The system was so wrong it is impossible to even begin to craft a defense. Knee-jerk reactions without cogent reasoning seem to be the thing of the future in this brave new world we are entering.
May God have mercy on us all.
