Election Thoughts
Sheboygan voters decided they wanted to end the saga with their current mayor and turn a new page. To his credit, the mayor stated that he had now been sober for 200 days, but the damage was done. I hope he will continue to be sober.

The current Washington County Board Chair, Herb Tennies, had two opponents this time around and came in second with 199 votes compared to the 203 received by James Becker, Jr. It will be interesting to see if this race stays as tight as it appears. Tennies has been a fixture.

The Germantown School Board race saw a significant victory by Sarah Larson with 1,344 votes to Lisa Laskowski's 533 votes with the third place finisher, Christina Wolf-Lang, garnering 175 votes. Obviously there will be more voters turning out for the final election race, so the tables could turn between now and then but it seems voters have made their views known. This race was replete with charges and counter-charges showing that these wounds have yet to heal. I suspect that the heat will be turned up even further from this point forward.

The Mequon-Thiensville School Board will lose two incumbents who came in fifth and sixth respectively. Those are Michele Flasch Ziegler and Cindy Miske.

Voter ID requirements didn't pose any problem at all just as most of us had expected. There was a report of one person in Milwaukee who was turned away after showing an ID from 1970. The Milwaukee election commissioner is reported to have said this was a protest and that the person returned later with proper ID.
