She Was So Pretty
She was a real pretty little thing. Big brown eyes. Lovely light brown hair. Slender legs. Probably about 150 lbs.
And then she ran right into my vehicle after running down a slope next to a railroad overpass so that I couldn't see her until it was too late. She managed to crunch into the right front fender and then she flew off and ended up in the ditch with her neck broken never to run again. I don't think she suffered from all appearances, but she was a pretty animal.
We were among those roughty 50,000 deer vs. vehicle accidents that occur in Wisconsin each year. It happened a little before Noon on Sunday. The vehicle was driveable and there were no injuries to humans. American Family got a call a little later and the wheels were set in motion. Now a body shop in Slinger has one more vehicle to fix and I'm driving a loaner vehicle that is a rolling billboard for the body shop..
I have had one other accident with a deer and that was on Hwy 41 just south of Fond du lac many years ago. That one ran in front of my vehicle and I couldn't avoid hitting it either. I was able to drive the vehicle home after that one too but it was messed up pretty good as I recall.
Just part of being a Wisconsite, I guess. Could've been a lot worse than it was; we were thankful!
