Just when we thought the “Pack” was a shoe-in for the Super Bowl…
Yesterday’s game between our Pack and the Carolina Panthers served as a reminder that, while our team is pretty darn good, there is heavy competition in the NFL.
Cam Newton is fun to watch and threw for over 400 yards against our defense. That was an eye-opener for those of us who thought we were somehow invincible coming into this season. Newton was the top draft choice so we knew he had talent. He had a great start in week #1 but some thought that might’ve been a fluke. It looks as though this young man is going to be the ‘real deal’ if he stays healthy and continues to grow in the NFL.
I’m still wondering why we won the toss and decided to give them the ball for the first drive of the game. I’m sure there was thought that this would test Newton but it put the Pack in a hole at the outset. Woodson did a great individual job of helping us dig out from that hole.
Driver caught his first pass of the season and got another record as the result.
While we are off to a “2 and 0” start, we have a long road ahead of us to make it to the next Super Bowl. Seasons tend to drag on forever and injuries are the unknown factor for every team.
Coach has some definite work targets as the result of yesterday so practice will be interesting this week as they prepare for the Bears.
We haven’t often started a season with two wins, so I am grateful that we were on the top side of the 30-23 score, but I could lose a few hairs from my dwindling hair count over this season if this game is an indicator.
