Recount Progressing
The recount in our Supreme Court Justice race is apparently now about 54% completed in terms of voting precincts. About two weeks remain in the originally scheduled recount that was set to be finished by May 19th.
Concealed Carry: Permit or No Permit?
The subject of “concealed carry” of weapons is on the front page as it is coming under consideration in Madison. By all accounts we will have a law on the books regarding the carrying of weapons during this term. Wisconsin is one of the last two states currently without some version of carrying a gun on its books.
A Great 'Fish Fry' Experience
I had the pleasure of enjoying what I would describe as the best tasting ‘fish fry’ I have had in many years. This was the Tempura Battered Walleye offered on the menu at the Jailhouse Restaurant. I wrote about this restaurant a couple of years ago and have no connections other than as a satisfied customer.

The classic debate within government: do we need to increase taxes or reduce spending? It doesn’t seem that we often get the reduced spending answer to that classic question.
An Interesting Book
I have just read an interesting book titled “Heaven Is For Real”. If you believe in heaven, I would certainly encourage you to think about reading this book. (It might even be better for you to read this if you don’t believe.) It is a quick read and one that kept pulling me forward.
Drive Offs & Pre-Pay Pumps
How long will it be before we are pre-paying at the gas pump? Woodman’s has been ‘pre-pay’ but I haven’t seen other stations doing that in our area. I used Woodman’s pre-pay service the day I noted they were about $.30 a gallon under everyone else. I and several scores of others made that decision that day making pump availability very scarce.

Memorial Day 2011
Memorial Day 2011 is upon us. This day has various meanings to us. Some remember a person lost on the battle field. Some remember loved ones who have passed. Some think about the end of the school year and the beginning of summer. Some might look forward to a three-day week-end and the opportunity for rest and relaxation. Some might lay a hand on a scar that was brought home from a distant land. Some might reflect on scars that aren’t visible but that are real nonetheless. Some do a bit of each of these things.
Shame!
The uncertainty in local governments and school systems across Wisconsin continues for so long as the legislature’s action during the time the “fourteen” were absent is in limbo. Judge Sumi has made her decision known and the Justice Department has made its position know in advance of the Supreme Court hearing set for June 6th.
